(C) Ambassador informed Foreign Minister Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa September 2 of U.S. intent to deploy Patriot III missile assets in Bahrain, and of the U.S. desire to discuss soon support arrangements. Shaikh Khalid heartily welcomed the news, and expressed Bahrain's eagerness to facilitate the deployment.
